Hogryder is right on the money. I was there 20 years ago, or so (in a cage), and we had a snowball fight -- in JULY! You have to pack for anything. We were camping in a tent, and I remember freezing by butt off. There were also Grizzlies sniffing around said tent. These days, I would rather stay in one of the lodges.
That said, the Going to the sun highway is the most spectacular stretch of road that I have ever been on. It makes the Blue Ridge Parkway (one of my favorite pieces of tarmak -- I've been there 20 times, I think) seem tame. Be prepared for plenty of motorhomes going 20mph at best.
If you can manage it, you'llhave a trip to rememberfor a lifetime. Go far, go safe.
